Curriculum & Assessment
Our preschool classrooms provide a safe, secure, and joyful place for young children to learn. The curriculum used is the Creative Curriculum. This curriculum is research based and emphasizes a play-based and developmentally appropriate philosophy. Attention is given to social, cognitive, and physical development. Children interact in both large and small groups. The environment and activities are designed to assist in the development of pre-reading, pre-math, science, social studies, and the arts. All of learning areas are designed to support the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Pre-Kindergarten updated in 2013 by the Michigan State Board of Education.
Teachers monitor children’s progress regularly. Parents receive a progress report on their child three times a year. This report includes information about where your child is functioning as well as ideas for you to assist in your child’s development.
This approach aligns with the NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practice Philosophy, The Creative Curriculum, Standards of Quality and Curriculum Guidelines set by the Michigan State Board of Education and the Great Start Readiness Program guidelines.
