Welcome to Stocking Elementary
(PK-5)

Welcome to Stocking Elementary. It is my pleasure to serve as the principal of Stocking Elementary. Stocking is a community school and cultural center that serves the west side of Grand Rapids. We take pride in our west side community, partnering with community organizations, parents, scholars, and families. At Stocking we work to ensure that all scholars are educated self-directed, and productive members of society.

If you are interested in being part of the Stocking family, please contact us at 616-819-3130. We would be happy to give you a tour and discuss how we can best support your scholar and family.

Stocking Elementary is focused on providing academic experiences to prepare scholars for college and career.

Our scholars have the opportunity to be part of more than just a school. We are a community of learners, families, businesses, and organizations whose goal is to support and grow the community and scholars.

Our outstanding team of teachers and support staff work hard to create a welcoming learning environment that supports the needs of each child. We participate in Project Lead The Way (PLTW), which exposes scholars to science, technology, engineering, and math. PLTW teaches problem solving and collaboration through project-based learning. Scholars learn real world skills and are introduced to STEM careers through this innovative program.

Parents are their child’s first teacher, which is why we recognize how important it is for parents to be an active part of their child’s education. Parents are welcomed as volunteers, at family nights, and in their child’s classroom.

We are also proud to partner with churches, non-profits, and businesses in our vibrant Westside community. Together we build a strong community for scholars to learn and families to grow.

We have incorporated distance learning for years and are poised to be a leader in the district as a blended model of new technologies and old practices, giving our students the best of both worlds. Our 1-to-1 student technology device approach ensures that every student has the opportunity to learn inside and outside the classroom.
