GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- We’re just one week away from being back together for the first day of school, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone!
GRPS understands how important it is for families and staff to have dates set in advance to plan for childcare and other commitments. While the district continues to negotiate a full-year calendar with the Grand Rapids Education Association (GREA), we are implementing a tentative instructional calendar covering through November 7.
This calendar is subject to change once the full-year calendar is finalized.
Tentative Instructional Calendar
- Monday, August 18 – First Day of School
- Friday, August 22 – School Closed
- Friday, August 29 – School Closed
- Monday, September 1 – School Closed (Labor Day)
- Monday, October 20 – School Closed
- Friday, October 31 – Half Day for Scholars (AM) / Staff GCN Training Flex (PM)
- Tuesday, November 4 – School Closed (Staff Virtual Professional Learning Day)
Previously Announced Tentative Breaks:
- Thanksgiving Break: November 26–28, 2025
- Winter Break: December 22, 2025 – January 2, 2026
- Spring Break: April 3–10, 2026
- Last Day of School: June 2, 2026
