Character Education

  1. The District will maintain a listing of reviewed and recommended Character Education programs or curricula. Schools will select a program from the list. If schools desire to use a program not included on the list, the desired program can be reviewed by submitting to the area Executive Director for inclusion in the District's recommended list.
  2. To ensure that Character Education programs and practices address the unique needs of individual school communities, decisions regarding specific approaches will be made in collaboration with staff, parents/guardians, and the greater community.
  3. The selection of a Character Education program should involve parents/guardians and the community, either through the School Improvement Team or some other school-based process.
  4. Parents/Guardians will be informed of and oriented to the Character Education program each year, either through orientation, open house, or some other school-based process.
