GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- For more than two decades, Visual Content Manager Evan Linnert brought viewers to some of the biggest events and stories across Michigan. Today, he is using those same storytelling talents to shine a spotlight on the people and moments that make Grand Rapids Public Schools special.

"I love showing the community all the great things that are happening in our schools," Linnert said. "Getting into classrooms and seeing how much our teachers care about the scholars is fulfilling. They truly are amazing people and seeing them in action always puts a smile on my face."

Before joining GRPS, Linnert spent more than 20 years as a photojournalist in local news, building a career around telling impactful stories through video.

"Telling visual stories is something I absolutely love," he explained. "When the opportunity came up at GRPS to focus on telling the positive things happening in the schools, it felt like the perfect fit. Highlighting the great work happening here every day is something I truly value."

An Emmy Award-winning storyteller, Linnert has continued earning recognition since joining GRPS, including multiple National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Video Excellence Awards - but it isn't the recognition that drives him.

"I hope my work helps the community understand just how incredible our scholars and staff are. The visual storytelling we do gives people a chance to really see it for themselves. If a story we share brings a sense of pride to the staff and scholars, then I feel like I’ve made a positive impact."
