GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- For 27 years, Sharon Honicutt has dedicated her career to supporting scholars and families at GRPS. As a Children’s House teacher at Ridgemoor Park Montessori, she values the opportunity to guide students through some of their earliest and most important years of learning.

“I enjoy the relationships I get to build with my students and their families,” Honicutt said. “Being a Montessori teacher allows me time to observe and work with my students over multiple years. This helps me get to know them really well. It is amazing watching them grow as learners and as people.”

Honicutt said her passion for serving the community inspired her to join GRPS nearly three decades ago.

“I chose to work at GRPS 27 years ago because I live in Grand Rapids and wanted to work with the children of our city,” she said. “They are amazing people and the reason I come to work every day.”

Inside her classroom, Honicutt works to create an environment where every child feels valued, capable and empowered to succeed.

“I work to encourage students to be themselves, value themselves, and value others,” she said. “I want them to see themselves as capable thinkers who are not afraid to try and keep trying, and who will make our world better.”

Through her commitment to students and families, Honicutt continues to make a lasting impact at Ridgemoor Park Montessori and across the GRPS community.
