The purpose of the Student Success Team (SST) is to provide a formal process for supporting student success at school when it has been determined that despite Tier I evidence-based interventions in the classroom, a student continues to struggle with unresolved Academic, Behavioral, or Attendance related issues. This process can meet the standard set forth by the Michigan Department of Education and IDEA to monitor a student’s response to intervention, and fulfill the district’s Child Find obligation of identifying, locating and evaluating students who are suspected of having a disability; however, it is primarily designed to problem resolve in the general education setting to support student performance.
The SST process is designed to function under a team approach on behalf of students. The primary function of the Tier II approach is to review and analyze evidence-based interventions that have been implemented and offer evidence-based interventions/supports to increase the likelihood of student success.
