GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) — Mr. Steven Reynolds has entered the ranks of administration at Grand Rapids Public Schools as he excels in his second career journey.
Before becoming an elementary school teacher, Mr. Reynolds was a bank manager. He says the skills he used in his old role, help focus his work in his new one.
“I get to use those skill sets because your scholars, your parents, your families — they are your customers,” Mr. Reynolds said. “You want to make sure that they feel satisfied with the services that you're providing to them.”
Mr. Reynolds took on the role of Interim Principal at Harrison Park Academy this school year. The former classroom teacher takes on the new role after serving as an assistant principal at Riverside Middle School.
“I got into education to help and support young people in their journey of becoming whatever it is they wanted to become,” Mr. Reynolds said. “Working with the staff here at Harrison Park has been absolutely amazing. I'm happy to say that it's been a collaborative environment and that's something that is, that is very important to me.”
“We all have the same goal in mind, which is to support our scholars, which is to make sure our scholars are feeling welcome here, which is to make sure that they're feeling safe,” he continued.
