GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) - The Ottawa Hills Bengals celebrated a strong weekend on the mats, with two standout wrestlers earning their way to the Regional Championships.
Nicholas Ladomato-Fisher – District Runner-Up & Conference Champion
Wrestling in the 215-pound weight class, Nicholas delivered an impressive performance at the District Tournament hosted in Grand Haven on Saturday, February 14. He battled through a tough bracket to secure 2nd place overall, earning his spot at Regionals. This accomplishment comes on the heels of an already dominant season—Nick was crowned the OK White Conference Champion at 215 pounds. He is also the first Regional Qualifier for Ottawa Hills since 2019.
Akeelah Howard – Girls District 3rd Place Finisher
On Sunday, February 15, Akeelah Howard competed in the Girls District Tournament at Whitehall and earned a strong 3rd place finish in the 110-pound weight class. Her performance secures her advancement to the Girls Regional Championships. Akeelah makes school history as the first-ever girls Regional Qualifier.
