GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- The Grand Rapids Board of Education will reconvene on Monday, September 15, at 5:30 p.m., in the Ottawa Hills High School auditorium to accommodate more attendees.
The location change comes after the September 8 meeting went into recess due to space limitations at the Rev. Lyman S. Parks Administration Building.
"The Grand Rapids Board of Education is committed to ensuring that those who wish to exercise their right to address the board through public comment have the opportunity to be heard when our meeting reconvenes on Monday, September 15," said Board of Education President Kymberlie Buczek. "Those who had public comment cards filled out but were not able to address the board prior to us recessing the meeting on September 8 will have first priority."
"The board plans to enter closed session once the meeting resumes at 5:30 p.m. and has adjusted the agenda by moving public comment toward the end of the meeting," President Buczek explained. "This is intended to provide greater access for community members, including GRPS staff who have after-school meetings, to attend and share their perspectives. We look forward to welcoming our community to continue to share with us.”
The agenda is available on Board Docs.
The Public Hearing on Sex Education Curriculum previously scheduled for September 15 will be moved to a later date.
