GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has reappointed CA Frost Environmental Science Middle High School Teacher Wendy Winston to continue sharing her expertise on a statewide advisory council.

Winston is being reappointed the MI-STEM Advisory Council to represent K-12 and postsecondary educational institutions involved with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics career preparation. Her term will continue through September 2029.

Winston teaches seventh and eighth grade math at CA Frost. She joined GRPS in 2002.

“I am proud to advocate for STEM education that aligns with the needs of future STEM industries in Michigan,” Winston said. “Our important work supports and empowers educators in STEM education and focuses on connecting Michigan students with STEM learning opportunities. I'm proud to serve on this council, alongside business, higher education, and philanthropic leaders.”

Winston is a tireless advocate for public education, serving as a Grand Rapids Education Association building representative, chair of the Michigan Education Association Democratic Educators’ Caucus, a member of the Representative Assembly of the Michigan Education Association, and a delegate to the Representative Assembly and member of the board of trustees for the National Education Association.
