GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- The Grand Rapids Board of Education has selected four candidates to interview for the open board trustee position.
The interviews will take place during a special meeting of the Board of Education on Wednesday, February 18, at 6 p.m. at GRPS University, 1400 Fuller Ave. NE.
A total of 20 applications were submitted for the position. The candidates selected by the Board of Education to interview are:
- Robert Hovenkamp
- Ismalis Nuñez
- Raynard Ross
- Erika VanDyke
The meeting will be open to the public. The Board of Education is expected to vote on the candidate who will be appointed to fill the vacancy during the meeting on February 18.
Former Trustee Arick Davis resigned from the Board of Education on January 23. In accordance with Board Policy 1170, the Board of Education has 30 days to appoint a new member. The appointed trustee will serve through December 31, 2026, at which time an elected member will complete the remaining two years of the term.
