In the U.S. News and World Report released this week, City High Middle School was ranked the top high school in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area, the #2 high school in the State of Michigan, and #31 in the nation. To be eligible for a state ranking, a school must be awarded a national gold or silver medal.
City High Middle also ranked #1 (tie) in the Graduation Rate category with a 100% grad rate.
According to US News & World Report, “Students have the opportunity to take International Baccalaureate coursework and exams. The IB participation rate at City High Middle School is 98%. The total minority enrollment is 54%, and 36% of students are economically disadvantaged.”
“I want to congratulate the students, families, teachers, support staff, and school leaders at City High Middle School for this remarkable accomplishment,” said Dr. Leadriane Roby, Superintendent of Schools. “City High Middle School has consistently been ranked among the top schools in the region, state, and country and this announcement just further confirms it.”
City High Middle School was the first school in the area to offer the coveted International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programme and has consistently been ranked among the top high schools in America. City High Middle School was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2019.
