The following email was shared with all GRPS families on October 27, 2025.
Dear GRPS Families,
As we move into November, we understand there is growing concern about how the ongoing federal government funding lapse may affect the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). You can find the latest updates from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services here.
Our district remains committed to supporting families and connecting you with community resources during this time. Below are a few local options that may be helpful:
- Kent County Pantry Resource Center Locations
- Feeding America: Use zip code or address to find pantries
- Access of West Michigan: Local Fresh Markets
Please note that the federal government shutdown has not impacted GRPS Nutrition Services. All scholars will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch at every GRPS school.
If you need additional support, Michigan’s 2-1-1 hotline is available 24 hours a day and offers assistance in more than 180 languages. You can dial 2-1-1 from any phone or visit mi211.org.Please know that your school community is here to help.
Sincerely,
Leadriane Roby, Ph.D.Superintendent
