GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) - The Ottawa Hills Bengals Cross Country team had a strong showing this fall, with four runners earning OK White Division All-Conference honors.
Madeleine Hengeveld (11th grade), Cece Wojciakowski (10th grade), Kelton Hoover (12th grade), and Liam Bingman (12th grade) were all named First Team All-Conference runners this season.
Highlighting the postseason was junior Madeleine Hengeveld, who delivered an incredible performance at the Girls Division 1 State Finals held Saturday, November 1, at Michigan International Speedway. Hengeveld ran the race of her career, setting a new personal record and surpassing her pre-race ranking. She clocked a time of 18:53, an 8-second PR, finishing 70th out of the 249 runners who qualified for the finals. Her time moves her to number five all-time on the Ottawa Hills cross country record board.
“It was a great day for Madeleine,” said Coach Dan Ebright. “You always want to have your best performance at the state meet and that is what she did. She has been very purposeful, steady, and hard-working in her preparation, and it paid off today with an excellent performance.”
Congratulations to all four Bengals for their achievements this season!
