GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) — The Ottawa Hills High School Cross Country program is celebrating a milestone achievement as two scholar-athletes officially signed their National Letters of Intent to compete at the collegiate level.
Kelton Hoover (City High Middle School) and Liam Bingman (CA Frost Environmental Science Middle High School) will both continue their academic and athletic careers in college beginning in the fall of 2026.
Hoover will attend Calvin University, where he plans to study Kinesiology and Exercise Science while competing in cross country and track and field for the Knights. This fall, Hoover earned OK White All-Conference honors and placed 8th at the conference meet, running a personal record of 16:16. His performance ranks sixth all-time in Ottawa Hills cross country history. Hoover was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player and received the Captains Award for the 2026 season.
Bingman will attend Davenport University, where he plans to major in Sports Management and compete in cross country and track and field for the Panthers. Like Hoover, Bingman earned OK White All-Conference honors this fall. He recorded a personal record of 16:24 at the Ottawa Hills Invitational, placing him ninth all-time in Ottawa Hills cross country history.
Hoover and Bingman are the 11th and 12th distance runners from the Ottawa Hills program to earn collegiate scholarships since 2016, continuing a strong tradition of excellence and opportunity for student-athletes.
