A school official, board member, or employee of the District shall not refer a student for an abortion or assist a student in obtaining an abortion. This prohibition does not apply to a person who is the parent or legal guardian of that student.
If a parent or legal guardian of a student enrolled in the District believes that this policy has been violated, he or she may file a complaint with the Superintendent. All complaints will be investigated. A written report of the findings will be provided to the complainant and the superintendent of public instruction within 30 days of the complaint in accordance with state law. Any employee who violates this policy will be subject to discipline up to and including termination.
This policy is required by state law.
