In recognition of the District's obligation to parent(s)/guardian(s) for the health, welfare and safety of scholars, building Principals or designees shall not release a student during the school day without consent from a parent or lawful custodian except in medical emergencies. 

Release of a scholar to that scholar’s lawful custodian, or to persons identified in the school’s student information system, will be considered an excused absence pursuant to Board of Education Rule 8020-R – Attendance and Tardiness. 

Other staff, including but not limited to teachers, custodians, aides, and administrative assistants, shall refer any requests for an early release during the school day to the Principal or designee. The identification of the student’s lawful custodian, or previously authorized adult, shall be verified to the satisfaction of the Principal or designee. All written or verbal requests of the lawful custodian shall be verified to the satisfaction of the Principal or designee. The name, address and telephone number of the lawful custodian shall be entered on the student record system.
