All school buildings will have notice posted requiring all visitors to make their presence known to the building principal or designee in the building’s main office before proceeding to contact any other person in the building or on the grounds. District employees who discover a visitor to the school who has not reported to the main office to make their presence known to the building principal or designee must promptly direct the visitor to the main office.
Any person who visits a building and/or grounds will be under the jurisdiction of the building principal who is responsible for developing rules and regulations governing the presence of visitors in the buildings. For example, the building principal may require a visitor to sign in, present a form of identification, scan their identification with a District approved sex offender registry system, explain their purpose, wear a visitor badge, and/or be escorted while at the building.
Parents who are registered sex offenders may visit District property or attend their scholar’s school activities. The building Principal or designee may require a parent who is a registered sex offender to comply with additional conditions to those listed above, including but not limited to participating in a check-in/check-out process, being required to leave immediately upon conclusion of their scholar’s activity, etc.
The principal or designee has the authority to request aid from any local law enforcement agency if any visitor refuses to leave or creates a disturbance. Violation of this rule may lead to removal from the building or grounds and denial of further access. Violators of this Board policy and its rules may be subject to governmental trespass laws.
The Board encourages the public to visit the District's schools, departments, and classrooms.
