GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) — Scholars from Southwest Middle High School - Academia Bilingüe presented at West Michigan Design Prize at Kendall College of Art and Design. The design challenge this year was: How might we improve social connections within our school to support wellbeing and a sense of belonging?

A total of 53 teams entered the competition in the fall. Twenty finalists were invited to present for the final round of judging, including five teams from Southwest Middle High.

The Book Recommender presented by one of the finalists from Southwest Middle High placed second in the middle school division.

West Michigan Design Prize is a partnership between the Greater West Michigan MiSTEM Region, Ferris State University’s Kendall College of Art and Design, Grand Valley State University, The Right Place, Kent ISD, Muskegon Area ISD, and Ottawa Area ISD.
