GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- GRPS Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby and Board of Education Vice President Aarie Wade have been recognized as Notable Leaders in Education by Crain's Grand Rapids Business.
"West Michigan’s education leaders are overhauling how their institutions operate and whom they serve," the Crain's article stated. "The executives, administrators and founders on this year’s Crain’s Notable Leaders in Education list have raised millions in new funding, launched ventures that extend beyond traditional classrooms, and pushed their schools to better reflect the communities around them."
Crain’s highlighted Dr. Roby’s leadership in guiding GRPS “through a collaborative planning effort, resulting in a Strategic Plan approval in 2021 and launching the Reimagine GRPS with Us! initiative, committing $305 million to school and program enhancements.”
Wade, who, in addition to her service on the Board of Education, is the Director of Education at Baxter Community Center, was recognized for launching “Summer at Baxter, activating Joe Taylor Park with diverse programming and transitioning it into Baxter Afterschool, increasing funding through community partnerships.”
