GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Three Ottawa Hills Bengals will continue their playing careers in college.
Nick Lodomato-Fisher, a senior at Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy, has signed to continue his wrestling career at Cornerstone University. He plans to study exercise science and kinesiology.
“It just gives me a chance to do what I love to do for more time and explore new opportunities and options,” Lodomato-Fisher said.
During his signing day ceremony, he shared his advice for younger classmates in attendance.
“Don't be afraid to try something that you think is weird or new or strange, because high school is the time to try things,” he said.
Taniya Radden, also a senior at Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy, will compete in volleyball at Albion College. She plans to study communications and marketing.
“This opportunity means that I get to keep playing the sport that I love, but I also get to make new connections at the next level,” Radden said.
She spoke at her signing day ceremony about the time she invested to get to this day.
“There have been a lot of long days, my mom could probably attest to this,” Radden said. “I pushed through and I just kept thinking about the end goal.”
Ava Vohs, a senior at City High Middle School, will continue her swimming career at Wheaton College. She plans to study pre-med and psychology.
“It means that I can further my academic, athletic, and faith life at Wheaton, and get to grow closer with the community there,” Vohs said.
She told those at her signing day ceremony that it took dedication to reach this milestone.
“A lot of hard work year-round in swimming,” Vohs said. “Lots of pain – and yeah - four more years of it. But I'm excited.”
