GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Keith Griffin and Jaheim Jones, both seniors at CA Frost Environmental Science Middle High School, have signed letters of intent to play college football next fall.

Griffin, a linebacker and running back, signed with Ohio Northern University. Jaheim Jones, a running back, safety and linebacker, signed with Kalamazoo College.

A team captain and first team OK Green Conference honoree this year, Griffin has been a powerhouse all season long. He is known for his aggressive play on both sides of the ball and his quiet leadership in the locker room.

“Keith leads with his play,” explained Grand Rapids Union Football Coach Curtis Andrews. “He’s been on the varsity team for four years and is a physical player on both offense and defense.”

In recognition of his tremendous effort, the Union coaching staff recently nominated Griffin for the prestigious Michigan All-Star Football Game.

Jones brings a different kind of leadership to the field. His vocal presence and infectious energy have played a crucial role in motivating the team throughout the season. He also set an incredible example in the classroom.

“Jah is definitely our energizer,” Coach Andrews stated. “He is a team captain and a three-year varsity player. He’s the vocal guy on our team.”

For Jones, GRPS football also runs in the family. His dad, Kamani Jones, Sr., is the head coach for the Red Hawks Middle School Football Program, and his little brother, Kingston, played alongside him on the varsity team this year. His older brother, Kamani Jones, Jr., also played football for GRPS before committing to Kalamazoo College. Next year, Jones joins his brother on the Hornets roster.

The achievements of both players mark another proud moment for a Grand Rapids Union football program that continues to send athletes to college.
