GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Union High School hosted its second annual Women in Sports Day, providing high school female athletes with an inspiring platform to connect, share experiences, and learn from successful women in the sports world.
Scholars participated in a panel discussion with accomplished female athletes.
“As women, we need to make sure that we're sticking together and supporting each other,” said panelist Jessalyn Johnson, assistant principal at Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy. “Find your community. Find your people. Some of my greatest friends came through sports.”
“Work hard when no one's watching,” said Tori Hoekstra, a counselor at Union High School. “Be a servant leader… be an encourager.”
