GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (GRPS) -- Union High School’s boys soccer team is heading into the district round with confidence after an impressive regular season. The Redhawks finished second in their conference, the OK Gold, thanks to the team’s balanced roster of experienced players and fresh new talent.
Coach Juan Zavala shared his excitement as the team prepares for the next challenge.
“The team has been very dedicated and determined all season long,” he said. “We placed second in conference and truly believe we can compete in the district round.”
Union will take on East Kentwood at East Kentwood, but the Redhawks aren’t deterred by playing away from home. Instead, they’re embracing the challenge and rallying support from the community.
“It’s the perfect mix of experience and youth talent; this has been our label for years. We encourage all our alumni, families, and staff to put on your Redhawk gear and join us on this trip,” Coach Zavala shared.
And in a nod to the infamous Union “U,” he added, “We’re only complete with all of ‘U.’”
With the Redhawks playing some of their best soccer yet, fans are encouraged to attend tonight’s district matchup. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
