GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Three Grand Rapids Public Schools educators were honored Sunday at the Olivia Margo Anderson Excellence in Education Scholarship Brunch.

The GRPS honorees are Kenyatta Hill-Hall, principal at Grand Rapids University Preparatory Academy; Cinque Moody, dean of students at Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Academy; and Scherron Walton, teacher at Gerald R. Ford Academic Center.

"These honors are a testament to the remarkable dedication and expertise of our educators," said Dr. Leadriane Roby, superintendent of Grand Rapids Public Schools. "Each day, they tirelessly impact the lives of our scholars."

The brunch was hosted by of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Theta Chi Omega Chapter, and 15 Pearls and A Promise. 

The event is named in memory of Olivia Margo Anderson, who served as an educator at GRPS for 32 years prior to her retirement in 2000. She later served on the Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees. Anderson passed away in July 2023.

"Ms. Hill-Hall, Mr. Moody, and Ms. Walton embody the rich legacy established by Ms. Anderson here in Grand Rapids," Dr. Roby said.
