GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Ninety-five scholars from the Academy of Health Sciences & Technology and the Academy of Design & Construction at Innovation Central High School have earned Adult and Infant First Aid, CPR, & AED Certification through the American Red Cross.

“This is a landmark achievement for both our scholars and Innovation Central High School,” explained Innovation Central High School Principal Derrick Martin.

The certification milestone means that nearly 25% of scholars at Innovation Central High School are CPR certified.

“That's one in four students who can respond to a life-threatening emergency,” Martin added. “Our scholars are now equipped with powerful, life-saving skills that will serve them in their academies, throughout their time at Innovation Central, and out in the community for the rest of their lives. The ripple effect of this certification extends far beyond our school walls — these young people are now a vital safety resource wherever they go.”
