“GRPS Champions” is a web series published every Monday celebrating the incredible work of GRPS team members.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Julie Ann Mosqueda, a cherished kindergarten teacher at C.A. Frost, has devoted almost 30 years to Grand Rapids Public Schools, sharing her passion for teaching with countless students and families.

Known for her ability to build deep connections and her innovative approach to education, Mosqueda is a true champion within the GRPS community. She finds joy in the unique energy her students bring each year.

"Every group over the years has brought their own little spunk and interests to our classroom," she explained.

Mosqueda tailors her lessons to meet her scholars' interests, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Last year, she incorporated coloring sessions with soft music to help scholars focus - an idea inspired by their love for art.

Her journey with GRPS began as an intern at Harrison Park. A series of opportunities led her to her first teaching role at Campau Park, where she found her calling.

"I just knew in my heart that that was where I was meant to be," she recalled. After 12 years, she transitioned to C.A. Frost, where she embraced outdoor learning experiences to enrich her students' education.

During her tenure at GRPS, she has treasured those rewarding moments when former students return to share their gratitude.

"When 5th graders walk down the hall and whisper, ‘Ms. Mosqueda was my kindergarten teacher, she was the best,’ you feel that and smile," she exclaimed.

Her impact can be felt through the values of kindness, joy, and a love for reading that she instills in her young scholars every day. Her compassion, dedication, and nearly three decades of service make her a true GRPS Champion.
