Hello future families and thank you for your interest in Alger Middle School. It is my privilege to serve as the principal of Alger, a place where every scholar learns the skills they need to be successful through middle school and beyond.
Our Alger staff is dedicated to helping each scholar reach their fullest potential. We offer strong academic courses and lots of extracurricular opportunities that will allow your child(ren) to excel in and out of the classroom. Whether it's helping the school raise test scores, playing on the championship basketball team, or competing in state choir competitions, your child(ren) will certainly feel part of the Alger family. Alger Middle School was built in 2006 in the Alger Park neighborhood in southeast Grand Rapids. Our building features state-of-the-art classrooms, innovative common areas, and modern technology. Our beautiful soccer, softball, track, and baseball fields allow our scholars to practice sportsmanship in the safety of our school grounds. Whether it's for academics or extracurricular purposes, Alger's campus is designed to maximize learning.
Meet Our Principal
We have incorporated distance learning for years and are poised to be a leader in the district as a blended model of new technologies and old practices, giving our students the best of both worlds. Our 1-to-1 student technology device approach ensures that every student has the opportunity to learn inside and outside the classroom.

Twenty-five scholars from Innovation Central High School’s Academy of STEM (ASTEM) attended the Roger That! Conference at Grand Valley State University (GVSU), an annual event dedicated to space exploration and the legacy of Grand Rapids Central High School alumnus and astronaut Roger B. Chaffee.
