Zonar Zonar MyView (ZPass)
School Bus Rider Safety and Visibility
What is the Zonar MyView (ZPass) program?
The Zonar MyView (ZPass) program allows parents to receive notifications when a scholar scans a card while getting on and off the bus, helping assure their safety.
How does Zonar MyView (ZPass) work?
To work, students must have a Zonar MyView (ZPass) card that they carry with them and scan while entering and exiting the bus. An electronic reader installed on the bus will identify each student when they scan the card upon entering and leaving the bus. The time, date, and location of each scan is logged and transmitted to a secure, confidential database.
How can my child get a Zonar MyView (ZPass) card?
Complete this request form and the card will be sent to your child’s school office. This form works for both new cards and replacement cards.
How can I receive information regarding my student’s Zonar MyView (ZPass) card scans?
Individuals that wish to receive notifications each time their student scans their card on and off the bus can do so by utilizing the Zonar MyView app. The Zonar MyView app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play store. The school access code is 29651. Enter your student’s ID and select push notifications to receive notifications when your student scans their card.
How will student information remain confidential?
The Zonar MyView (ZPass) system records only the student name, student ID number and Zonar MyView (ZPass) ID number. No personal information about the student is included. The data is only accessible using the World Wide Web encrypted protocol “HTTPS” (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol - Secure) and only after proper authentication (User Login and Password).
Who is eligible to receive a Zonar MyView (ZPass) card?
All students enrolled in transportation can utilize the program.
Can students ride the bus without Zonar MyView (ZPass) cards?
Yes. Students do not need a Zonard MyView (ZPass) card to ride the bus.
What if my child loses his/her Zonar MyView (ZPass)?
Complete this request form and the card will be sent to your child’s school office. The lost card will become inactive.
Will there be any cost for replacement cards?
No. There is no charge for student cards.
What should parents do if they have problems with Zonar MyView (ZPass)?
The Transportation Department and Transportation Technology Support teams will be happy to answer questions and resolve any issues. Please call the Transportation Department at (616) 819-3000 and select option 2.
Here Comes the Bus
School Bus Tracking by Synovia Solutions
What is Here Comes the Bus and why might you need it?
Here Comes the Bus is an easy-to-use website and app that enables you to see the location of your child’s school bus on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer. The app allows you to know when the bus is near your stop or has arrived at the school.
How does it work?
Here Comes the Bus uses global positioning system (GPS) technology to locate and track a student’s school bus. The location of the school bus can be seen on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.
How do you sign up?
Access to the application requires a district-specific code (29651), the student’s last name, and student ID. Only students enrolled in transportation are available in the app.
Is the information private and secure?
Here Comes the Bus uses HTTPS, just like a bank or online store, which means that all communications between your web browser and the site are encrypted and secure.
How much does it cost?
Here Comes the Bus is available at no cost to all Grand Rapids Public Schools families and participation is optional.
What is the difference between the mobile app and website to track your child’s school bus?
The main difference is how you access the data. The look and feel are different on the mobile device for on-the-go use. You can use mobile and tablet apps anywhere you can use a mobile device.
What is the Buspass icon in the app and how do I use it?
“Buspass” is an additional service provided by Synovia; however, Grand Rapids Public Schools is not a subscriber for this service. For our families, "Buspass" will be an inactive icon in the app.
What should parents do if they experience problems using the app?
The Transportation Department and Transportation Technology Support teams will be happy to answer questions and resolve any issues. Please call the Transportation Department at (616) 819-3000 and selection option 2.
