GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Amy Liberato Jasinski has built her career around sparking curiosity by helping scholars discover the joy of learning a new language. As a Spanish teacher at Grand Rapids Public Museum High School, she creates opportunities for scholars to grow.
"I truly enjoy interacting with students. I love to see their eyes light up when they understand and learn something new," Jasinski said. "It’s always a great day when they accomplish a proficient verbal performance task in Spanish.”
Jasinski joined Grand Rapids Public Schools in 2018. It was a return to K-12 education after spending a few years at GVSU.
"I’m so happy I made the change back to teaching,” she said. “It’s been challenging, but very rewarding.”
Inside her classroom, Jasinski blends creativity and rigor, finding ways to make Spanish both engaging and accessible.
“I hope to bring excitement to learning the Spanish language,” she said. “I like to incorporate fun into my lessons, like field trips, student-made videos, silly activities, and songs. I want students to enjoy Spanish class and have a good time learning."
Her leadership extends beyond the classroom as an advisor to Diversity Union and Helping Others Together (HOT) Group.
"As an advisor for Diversity Union, I hope to help create a space for student voice," Jasinski shared. "As an advisor for H.O.T. Group, the impact I hope to bring is that we find value and beauty in caring for our community. Where we see needs, we can make a difference."
From classroom lessons to community impact, Jasinski embodies the spirit of a GRPS Champion.
