Dear Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy Families & Staff,

I am writing to share an important update on the timeline for our new environmental science academy at Ken-O-Sha Park.

Over the past several months, our teams have been working closely with architects to design a school that seamlessly connects outdoor learning with classroom experiences, creating an environment where scholars can truly thrive. Because it is essential that we take the time to get this right, we have made the decision to adjust our timeline. Construction is expected to start in early 2026, and the new academy is now expected to open for the 2027–28 school year.

We are grateful for the strong start to this school year at our shared home at Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy. We will continue in this space through next school year, then make the exciting move to our new home in the summer of 2027.

Our next step will be to host a community meeting in the coming months where we will share design plans and gather feedback from scholars, families, and staff. As soon as we have a date selected, you will receive an invitation. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership as we take this journey together.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Bridget Cheney, Chief Area Instructional Leader of the Southeast Quadrant, at cheneyb@grps.org

Sincerely,

Leadriane Roby, Ph.D.
Superintendent
