GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – The community is invited to attend an information session to review design plans for the renovation of Sigsbee School, which will become the new home of Southeast Career Pathways in 2025.

The information session will be Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Sigsbee School, 1250 Sigsbee Street SE. The session will include a presentation by Pure Architects with renderings and additional project details.

Renovations are scheduled to start this fall on a proposed $7 million project to prepare the school to be the new home of Southeast Career Pathways. Scholars are expected to start at the renovated Sigsbee building in August 2025. Southeast Career Pathways is currently located on Jefferson Avenue SE.

Sigsbee School opened as an elementary school in 1975. Since the elementary school closed, the site has been used to house GRPS staff and was leased by a preschool operator.

Planned renovations include expanding windows, creating a safe and secure entrance, upgrading HVAC systems, upgrading building finishes and lighting, kitchen upgrades, masonry restoration, replacing building furnishings, and parking lot repairs. The recently renovated playground will remain in place.

Interpretation services will be provided at the information session.
