GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- GRPS Public Safety and School Security announced officer awards for the 2023-24 school year.
"We're able to celebrate that you built relationships with our young people, built relationships with our community, built relationships with families," GRPS Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby told those in attendance at the awards banquet on June 7.
Officer Milagros Hernandez was named 2024 Bruce Klooster Memorial Officer of the Year.
"There's a lot of scenarios we could give you about this individual that would show you the work that they did," Chief of Staff and Executive Director of Public Safety and School Security Larry Johnson said when announcing Officer Hernandez as Officer of the Year.
Several other officers were also honored with individual awards during the ceremony.
"We want to honor our guys. Our young ladies, our young men that are really dedicated to this," Johnson said.
