GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Grand Rapids Public Schools sends a small delegation to do a big job in Puerto Rico each year -- bring back teachers.

Finding and retaining teachers is a struggle for school districts across the nation. With a student population that is 40% Hispanic, GRPS works hard to recruit teachers who are also able to speak Spanish.

WOOD TV highlighted the effort and interviewed two of our team members who were recruited during a trip to Puerto Rico in 2018.

Both are making a significant impact on the lives of our scholars.
