GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) — Grand Rapids Public Schools welcomed school-based leaders “back to school” Tuesday as the start of the 2023-2024 school year draws closer.

More than 100 GRPS leaders were on hand for the celebratory event themed “Welcome Home”.

Principals will begin preparing their schools for teachers and other staff to arrive later this month in addition to participating in professional development and team building work.

Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby spoke to the principals about plans for refining school safety, improving school culture, and increasing staff growth and retention.

“This is an exciting time of year for us. Our staff is energized and we are working hard together to get ready for our scholars to arrive,” GRPS Superintendent Leadriane Roby, Ph.D. said. “We have some exciting work ahead this school year that will shape the future of our schools and the education GRPS provides for generations to come.”

School resumes on Tuesday, August 22.

Enrollment is open online. Both new and returning families should complete the registration process online at grps.org as soon as possible.
