GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) — Graduation rates for Grand Rapids Public Schools continue a rising trajectory with figures topping the state average for the first time in recent history.
State figures released Friday show the 2023 GRPS graduation rate at 82.39%, higher than the state average of 81.77%. The latest graduation rate numbers are the highest in recent history, topping the 80.53% graduation rate from 2022 and the previous record of 80.9% set in 2020.

“This is a reflection of the push within our schools to ensure every scholar is ready to launch toward a successful future when they leave the Grand Rapids Public Schools,” GRPS Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby said. “We are proud of the growth in these numbers but the work continues with the support of our community. Our leaders and this community won’t be fully satisfied with anything less than 100%.”

2023: 82.4%
2022: 80.5%
2021: 78.9%
2020: 80.9%
2019: 78.2%
2018: 71.3%
2017: 66.6%
2016: 65.5%
2015: 56.2%
2014: 49.6%
Growth in graduation rates is among the objectives of the district’s Strategic Plan and the work of the Reimagine GRPS with Us! initiative.
