GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) – Sibley Elementary School Principal Roselyn Charles-Maher is a lifelong educator who knew from a young age exactly what she wanted to do.
“As a kid I enjoyed playing school with my brother, those were actually my earliest memories,” Charles-Maher said. “I knew that’s what I was going to be when I grew up.”
She spent 18 years in the classroom, teaching at Ottawa Hill High School, Central High School, and Union High School. She also has experience teaching at Ferris State University and Grand Rapids Community College.
“Representation matters. A lot of the students look like me,” Charles-Maher explained. “I want them to see that they can see themselves in a building as a teacher, as a principal, they can see themselves in the community as whatever it is they work at wanting to become, they can do it.”
“We really are Sibley Familia. That’s what I love the most, the community. We can’t wait until you are a part of our Sibley Familia.”
