GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Are you ready to take the next step in your career and become an educator? The Grow Your Own Program provides fully funded opportunities for Grand Rapids Public School employees to earn their teaching certification at no cost.
GRPS staff entering the Grow Your Own Program must commit to continuing their employment with GRPS while participating in the program. This opportunity requires dedicating time outside of work hours to complete coursework and assignments.
Non-GRPS employees can apply for a district job and then apply to enter the program if they are hired.
What You’ll Get:
- 100% tuition coverage (paid upfront by GRPS, no out-of-pocket costs)
- Books and other eligible costs fully covered
- Online coursework (evenings and weekends)
- MTTC test prep and fees fully covered
Who Should Apply:
- Any GRPS employee with a bachelor’s degree who wants to to become teachers (any major accepted)
- Eligible employees include part-time, contractors, temps, substitutes, bus drivers, etc.
- If you are a parent or community member with a bachelor's degree that wants to participate in this program, you can apply for a GRPS job then apply to participate if you are hired.
The Grow Your Own program is funded by a $2.5 million dollar state grant.
