Below you will find the work expectations and guidelines for District operations for Summer 2025.
DISTRICT CLOSURE DATES:
- The District will be closed for business on the following Fridays:
- June: 13, 20, 27
- July: 4, 11, 18, 25
- August 1, 8
- The District will be closed for the June 19th holiday on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
- The District will be closed for the July 4th holiday on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
DISTRICT/DEPARTMENT GUIDELINES AND WORK EXPECTATIONS:
- The District will be closed on Fridays during the summer starting on Friday, June 13, 2025, and ending on Friday, August 8, 2025.
- Business hours for the public at all open buildings will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 9 – August 7, 2025.
- The workday for employees will be 10 hours, Monday through Thursday during these weeks.
- Work hours for employees can be between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. only.
- The District will resume eight-hour days, five days per week work schedules on August 11, 2025.
- LOOP programs will run Monday, June 16 – July 24, 2025, in-person Monday-Thursday. The program will not operate on district closure dates.
- Summer School will run Monday, June 16 – Thursday, July 24, 2025, in-person Monday – Thursday. The program will not operate on district closure dates.
- Employees will not be approved for overtime to complete work that is within the normal course of business. Prior approval is required for any and all overtime.
- Staff are prohibited from entering buildings Friday through Sunday. Exceptions may be made by the Superintendent and Executive Cabinet Members should the need arise to modify work schedules to ensure all work tasks are performed during the course of a 40-hour work week.
- The District may modify employees’ schedules to ensure all work assignments are completed timely.
EMPLOYEE GUIDELINES:
- An administrator must be on duty at all times when non-exempt employees are working.
- Flexible schedules for the 10-hour workday will be determined according to the work needs in each department. The supervisor/director will make the final decision.
- Employees may use up to 2 hours of earned vacation or personal business time Monday through Thursday resulting in an 8-hour workday. Employees may also use earned comp time (non-exempt employees only) or take unpaid time upon approval of the supervisor. Use of this time (PB, VC, comp time and approved unpaid time) during the 4-day work week period will not be counted against the employee when verifying attendance for job transfers.
- While a thirty-minute duty free unpaid lunch may be taken during the day a lunch period is not required during this summertime schedule. An employee who requests to not take a duty-free lunch period willwork ten straight hours, with the exception of appropriate separate paidbreaks that will be provided during the ten-hour period (no paid break period can be combined to extend beyond 20 minutes, at this time the paid break becomes unpaid).
- During the week of June 16, 2025, 52-week employees will be paid eligible holiday time for Thursday, June 19, 2025.
- Employees will work their 10-hour daily schedule Monday, June 16 through Wednesday, June 18, 2025 (accumulating 30 hours). The District will be closed for observance of the holiday on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Eligible employees will need to utilize 2 hours of personal business, vacation, or earned comp time to be compensated for 40 hours during this week. Employees that do not have Juneteenth as a paid holiday may use accumulated time to be paid.
- During the week of July 4, 2025, 52-week employees will be paid eligible holiday time for Friday, July 4, 2025.
- Employees will work their 10-hour daily schedule Monday, June 30 through Wednesday, July 2, 2025 (accumulating 30 hours). The District will be closed for observance of the holiday on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Eligible employees will need to utilize 2 hours of personal business, vacation, or earned comp time to be compensated for 40 hours during this week. UGRESP staff will get 10 hours of holiday pay for Independence Day Holiday if they are scheduled to work that week.
- The use of earned compensatory time must be pre-approved by your immediate supervisor. Your paysheet must accurately reflect the use of comp time.
- No changes in type of leave used will be permitted after submission of payroll.
DRESS GUIDELINES:
- Choose business casual clothing that communicates professionalism.
- Take your workday schedule into account when you are dressing. Casual business attire means clothing that allows employees to feel comfortable at work, yet appropriate for an office environment.
- Employees who are hosting or attending meetings with students, parents, vendors, or members of the community must meet appropriate dress guidelines, which may include business attire.
- Individuals who are not wearing appropriate attire will be asked to go home and change their clothes.
