GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (GRPS) -- Three GRPS scholars were honored by the West Michigan Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in the Sergeant Moses Adams Brochure Contest.

This year's contest focused on the five founding documents of the United States. The winners are:

  • Chloe Dean, an eighth-grade scholar at CA Frost Environmental Science Middle High School, was awarded the $100 first-place prize for her entry, "The Bill of Rights." Her entry will be entered into the statewide contest in April.
  • Dominick Henriott-Jauw, an eighth-grade scholar at CA Frost Environmental Science Middle High School, was awarded the $75 second-place prize for his entry, "The Articles of Confederation."
  • Beatriz G. Bedolla, an eighth-grade scholar at Shawmut Hills Academy, was awarded the $50 third-place prize for her entry, "The Constitution of the United States."

Sgt. Moses Adams died in 1778 while serving in the American Revolutionary War. The Sons of the American Revolution honor his legacy through this program.
