Dear Museum Middle School Families —

I am writing to inform you of a concern that has come up causing us to go into lockdown for the remainder of the school day.

A short time ago, Grand Rapids Public Museum received phone calls where the caller threatened violence. The museum has decided to close to the public and our lockdown protocol has been initiated as an added precaution.

The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating. At this point, the threat has not been deemed credible.

Additional security will be in place to ensure our scholars are dismissed safely at the normal time.

All of our scholars are safe and secure inside of the school. There is no need to pick up scholars early. Parents choosing to do so should remain in their vehicles, call the school office, and your scholar will be escorted out of the building to you. Photo ID will be required.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring our scholars are safe.
